Children's Colorado opened yet another location.

Perhaps the hospital grows too fast or too much, but the truth is, this is who it's always been. Since its beginnings in a tent in Denver's City Park in 1897, Children's Colorado's mission is and always has been to serve the children who need care; as Denver has expanded and children's needs grown, so too has the hospital.

A few years ago, Children's Colorado realized just how many patients and families were driving hours to its flagship location on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. Many came from the South Denver Metro Area and the need became clear: the hospital had to bring its services to them.

In particular, Highlands Ranch is a burgeoning, family-dense community that needed a pediatric hospital to support its growing children. In response, Children's Colorado said, "Let it be us."

In December 2013, Children's Colorado opened its South Campus in Highlands Ranch, where it offers Urgent Care, surgery, inpatient and outpatient facilities, and several specialty services.

Today, the South Campus stands on a hill above two major thoroughfares of Highlands Ranch, the Balloon Boy logo a glowing symbol to passing families that help is close and the hospital is there to stay.
