Community Involvement

Children's Colorado's leadership volunteers with many local, national and international organizations. Some of that involvement includes:

Jim Shmerling, DHA, F.A.C.H.E., Chief Executive Officer, is Board member of the Children's Hospital Group, Dublin, Ireland; Chair of the Board of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals; Chair of the Board of Children's Hospital Association,; Chair of the Child Health Patient Safety Organization, Inc., a component entity of the Children's Hospital Association; Governing Council member of the American Hospital Association's Section for Maternal and Child Health; Past Board Chair and current Board member of the Colorado Regional Health Information Organization (CORHIO); Board member of the Colorado Hospital Association; and Board member of Virtual PICU Systems, LLC.

Jena Hausmann, President and Chief Operating Officer, serves as a board member of the Metro North Chamber of Commerce, served as the March of Dimes' March for Babies revenue chair and she served on the YMCA Metro Denver board from 2009-2012. As a leading woman in healthcare, she annually mentors as many as 30 individual women at the CU School of Medicine as well as throughout the Children's organization to help them understand their roles and opportunities and to demonstrate personally and professionally the ability of women to succeed in executive roles in healthcare.

Michelle Lucero, Esq. Chief Administrative Officer, serves as Chair of the Metropolitan State University of Denver's Board of Trustees, has an appointed board position on the Winter Park Advisory Committee, is on the service selection committee for the Girl Scouts Women of Distinction – 2014, is a member of the Udall-Bennet Judiciary Selection Committee and serves various other task forces and community committees.

Joan Bothner, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, has served on the Executive Committee for Pediatric Emergency Medicine for the American Academy of Pediatrics and as the Chair of the Mile High Regional Emergency Medicine and Trauma Advisory Council.

Timothy Crombleholme, M.D., Surgeon-In-Chief, is president of the International Fetal Medicine and Surgery Society and Board Member of the Wound Healing Society.

Steven Daniels, M.D., Pediatrician-In-Chief, serves as President of the Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs; is a member of the American Heart Association, Southwest Affiliate; is President Elect (2013-2014) of the American Heart Association, Denver Metro Chapter, Southwest Affiliate; member of the Children's Diabetes Foundation, Denver, Colorado; and member of The Kempe Foundation for Prevention and Treatment Child Abuse and Neglect, Aurora, Colorado.

Pat Givens, Associate Chief Nursing Officer, serves on Advocates 4 Children, Court Appointed Special Advocates, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the Colorado Organization of Nurse Leaders, the CHA Legislative Council, The Wine Event, and was appointed to the Medical Services Board by the Governor.

Amy Casseri, J.D., Chief Strategy Officer, serves as a Board Member of the Highlands Ranch Chamber of Commerce; Board Secretary of Access Diversified Services, Inc.; Ronald McDonald House board member; March of Dimes board member; member of the Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce; member of the Aurora Economic Development Council; member of the Junior League of Denver; board member of the Colorado Pediatric Collaborative; member of the Children's Hospital Association; and Shalom Foundation board member.

Ellen Servetar, Vice President of Clinical and Support Services, is Director at large and co-chair of membership for the Colorado Organization of Nurse Leaders.

Suzy Jaeger, Senior Vice President of the Network of Care and Ambulatory Operation, serves on the Real Soccer Colorado Board of Directors.

Greg Raymond, Regional Vice President, Southern Colorado, is on the Joint Initiatives for Youth and Families Board and Donor Alliance Fund Advisory Board.

Rob Reid, Vice President of Support Services, serves as the Treasurer for the Colorado Association of Healthcare Engineers and Directors. He is also on the Highlands Ranch Business Park Association Board.

Jerrod Milton, R.Ph., Vice President of Operations, Professional Services, serves as a member of the HSS Board of Directors; volunteers with the Aurora Public Schools Summer Project and Pharmacists Compounding Task Force.

Andrea Ferretti, MSN, NEA-BC, Vice President, South Campus, is a member of the Colorado Organization of Nurse Leaders, the Colorado Governor's Council for Active & Healthy Lifestyles and the American Organization of Nurse Executives Education Review Committee.
